What Do You Want To Know?

I've been trying for weeks to pick my favorite posts on the blog, and I have to say I agree with the Top 10 list that will come out on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the course of reviewing so many of our posts, and because many of you may have a little time off or may be playing with new tech toys (or may just be joining us) here's the skinny on A Sponsor's Journal.

First, it's aptly named -- I sponsor two girls (Munni in Bangladesh and Sovanna in Cambodia) and this documents my journey into sponsorship.

My hope was to provide encouragement and helpful hints, as well as some background information on the sponsorship process. Because I work at Mission of Mercy, I have the inside scoop. And because I'm a nerd, I love to share information.

So where should you start? One of the first things people talk about with sponsorship is the letters, and the Expectations series explores why letter writing takes so long and why your child's letters are so formal or generic. Good stuff there.

Then there's my post on the questions that come up when your child's letter states something different than your child's biography.

I highlight a few cultural issues as well.

And then there are the tips. Boy, do I like tips! Because it's hard to keep track of what's said in your letters.

And you want to send things, but those mailing restrictions are tough! What fits in a #10 envelope?

What if you're running out of things to say? Hint: there's inspiration all around you... and there are several important topics you can address.

Or maybe you watch the nightly news too much (or maybe you want to avoid the news) and want to know if your child is okay when something happens in his or her country.

There are things you can pray about and things you can share

Because your letters are hugely important and can impact generations.

But I want to continue the discusison. What do you, as a sponsor, want to know? How can I help, and what can I share? I'd love to hear what post you enjoyed or what you'd like to learn more about, so leave a comment below!

Honestly, so busy last week did not get to review this post until today. I like the tips for letter writing. One of my little princesses lives in an area where there are restrictions. These tips have been priceless. Many times I have posted a link or shared a link to the these tips. One sponsor asked me several questions about the letter writing process and why sometimes the letters don't seem to make much sense. I shared your post about expectations and this was exactly what the sponsor needed to reassure them. Your sponsors journal is a blessing for information and encouragement. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your feedback, Dave! I always pray that what I share is helpful to sponsors, so I am grateful to hear that these posts encourage people. Thanks for your faithfulness to your girls and to the ministry God has given you!
