Time To Get Going
Monday, February 28, 2011 at 3:16PM Are you ready to get your hands dirty on behalf of your sponsored child?
Are you ready to sacrifice a bit this summer just to see the spark of recognition in a child’s eye, to feel that tentative hug turn into something deeper?
Are you ready to meet your sponsored child?
This year, Mission of Mercy and our partners are offering several trips to countries in which we work. Two of these trips (one to Sri Lanka and the other to Honduras) have already filled up, but there are spaces available for the following adventures:
Dominican Republic Sponsor Tour: June 18-24th
Join Jenny Kennedy, Mission of Mercy’s Vice President of Sponsor Ministries, on the first sponsor tour to the Dominican Republic to fully experience what sponsorship means to your child and the community. You will witness the amazing partnerships Mission of Mercy has with the local churches, pastors, teachers, and families in several communities. You’ll also get a chance to host a Field Day with your sponsored child at the Field of Dreams! Interested? You can learn more and apply for a spot here.
To read about how a mission trip experience can impact you, check out Janelle's post about personal poverty. We may hear from her later this week as well.
Women’s Circle of Caring: Kenya, October 7-17th
Later in the year, a beautiful tradition continues with the Women’s Circle of Caring trip to Kenya. The 2011 team will be the third group of women to travel to work with and love on the Maasai communities of Emarti and Nashipai. Past trips have worked with the women and children on basic hygiene and clean water issues – this year, the women have requested help with a gardening program to help combat chronic malnutrition and disease. The team will also host Vacation Bible Schools for the beautiful children in the area.
As the Kenya trip occurs later in the year, we are still ironing out the details, including the time schedule and total cost. For more information and to watch a video from the first Circle of Caring trip, visit this page. You can also read reflections from the second Circle trip here.
If you want to see how sponsorship works and what God is doing with the money you have dedicated to His children, prayerfully consider these trips!
