When we say that you help us build, we really mean it. We are able to respond to these needs because of your partnership. To be clear, the projects and progress you are about to see were funded by generous donors; your sponsorship giving helps your sponsored child and the program he or she attends.
Your commitment, however, allows us to be present in overlooked communities, gain trust, and find solutions. There are so many projects to highlight, so we thought it might be best to focus on a few that represent the many we are able to undertake with God's provision and help:
Mission of Mercy was able to double the size of the Anugraha Boy's Home in India that cares for boys who are abandoned, orphaned, or neglected. It now has room for 50 boys and an apartment for their house parents. The boys attend a local school and have much more room to play and grow.
In Swaziland, several projects needed simple additions to allow the staff to minister to the impoverished children in the area. This project received a tin veranda to shade children during lessons and play time as well as a new outdoor stove to prepare meals.
In the Dominican Republic, land is expensive -- if a project needs to expand, sometimes the only way to build is up. This mission team helped build a second floor, effectively doubling the capacity for this project. Now it can minister to more children and hold classes for the community.
In rural Kenya, several of our projects meet under the shade of a large tree. A simple structure would provide shelter from the sun and a place to hold church services for this remote area. Here you can see the ground-breaking ceremony and the first load of sand, rocks, and the building frame.
As the frame was constructed, Mission of Mercy raised more funds for the roofing materials.
The structure was completed in time for this project's Christmas party!
Introducing one of our newer construction projects -- a junior high with additional grade school classrooms for a school that serves several villages in Cambodia. The current building is overcrowded, so students go to school in three-hour shifts.
Here you can see the foundation being prepared and laid.
As the walls began to rise, several classes prayed over the land and the construction efforts.
When you pray for God to meet your sponsored child's needs in extraordinary ways, this is sometimes the answer He delivers. Thank you for helping us meet the needs of children in so many different ways!
